Cervical spondylosis is a condition where there is wear and tear of the cervical vertebrae.It usually is caused due to aging, other causes are working with more stress on neck, Incorrect posture, Smoking or Genetic causes.

Cervical Radiculopathy: Occurs when the root the nerve is compressed or damaged while exiting from the cervical vertebrae.It is usually characterised from symptoms like Numbness, Pricking pain like with pins or needles,pain or weakness in the arms,Shooting pain in the arm usually one sided but can be bilateral.If the upper vertebrae is compresses the nerve then there may be pain and numbness at the back and side of the head.
Cervical Myelopathy: symptoms are difficulty in walking or holding objects and having tendency to drop object, one may experience problems with the bladder or bowel.
Cervical spondylosis is due to Vata imbalance which causes weakness of the nerves thereby causing the symptoms like pain, stiffness etc. The main line of treatment adopted here is Vatahara( to decrease Vata ) and strengthening procedures. Herbal preparations , Nasya( nasal therapy) , Pichu (procedure where medicated oil dipped in cotton is placed on the affected area), are very useful measures to strengthen the nerves, increase the blood supply and decrease the symptoms. The treatment are selected according to the predominant doshas and individual condition.
