Turmeric(Curcuma Longa) is known as Haridra in Ayurveda. It is known by its yellow colour.
It can be used both internally and externally. Turmeric is used in skin conditions, diabetics, Gynaec conditions.

 

It has Pungent, bitter taste and is hot and dry in property. It is useful in balancing the vitiated Kapha and Pitta.It helps in increasing the complexion of the skin, used in gynaec conditions as it has a scraping property it is benefitial in Pcos , endometriosis, diabetics, Allergy, oedema etc.

 

Turmeric is known for its antiandrogenic activity, it helps in reducing the high androgen levels hence useful in prostrate cancer, PCOS(polycystic ovarian syndrome).
The curcumin in turmeric is antiinflammatory and acts as an anti carcinogen.

 

How to use Turmeric in Diet?

 

Turmeric tea is rich in antioxidants and helps in removing toxins from our body.

 

As Turmeric is Hot in property, Pitta Prakriti persons need to take it with caution and also during summer the quantity has to to decreased.
